THE TOUR WILL CONTINUE - MESSAGE FROM NICKY

Hello everyone,

I would just like to apologise for the gig last night in Llandudno.  I am trying to nurse a prolapsed disc through the tour and last night it went into spasm on stage.  This made it virtually impossible for me to move, let alone jump.  I desperately want to carry on the tour but it will mean a combination of standing still, sitting down on stage, back braces and painkillers. As you know standing still is utterly alien to me on stage I don’t want any sympathy but hopefully this will explain my lack of movement and general mood.
Thank you for your understanding

See you all at the Roundhouse.

Love from Nicky Wire

Went to the gig at Wolverhampton on 01.06.09. Great gig and a refreshing format, particularly so soon after a new album release. My sympathies to Nicky but thene there isn't much room on stage at Wolverhampton anyway! The main thing was that you sounded better than ever. Cheers guys.

Yeah, I remember that. I was there. Bloody ignorant w*nkers. They should have been sent out. Otherwise bloody cracking gig. No fault to the Manics, of course. :)

Hope you get well soon Nicky. A prolapsed disc is really painful, and that still doesn't describe it accurately. I admire you for carrying on the tour. Most musicians would be like "I've got a broken fingernail, I can't go on." You are an example to us all.

WEnt to the Roundhouse and Brighton, both awesome gigs, Roundhouse especially. Nicky really looked to be suffering at Brighton. Sadly the audience around us in Brighton were typical dumb f**k Oasis fans who held a shouted conversation all the way through Williams Last Words.

Saw the Manics for the 6th time when we went to LLandudno on the 26th and they were awesome. Nicky showed a lot of guts for his fans when playing on through a back pain and theres not many artists out there prepared to do that, fans or not! Richey would have been proud. One of the guys with us on the night was seeing his first ever concert and he was totally blown away. You couldn't have picked a better band to see live. Thanks LLandudno for a great venue.

Was at the gig in Glasgow on the 25th. Was amazing. I've got a prolapsed disc too, and wouldn't wish it on anyone. Going for an operation next wednesday that should sort it out. You should get some Dihydrocodeine from the doctor Nicky. They are the only reason I was able to make it to the gig at all!

Was at the Gig on the 29th at the Roundhouse. Amazing. I haven't seen the band since I was about 18. Long time. I can't believe I had forgotten how wonderful you are live.

Poor Nicky back ache sucks. James you were amazing. Saw you on breakfast in the morning and thought the interviewr was a bit insensitive but you dealt with it well. Can't wait to see you love again.

It was odd to to go to a Manics gig where James was the one being the most energetic! Nicky looked a lot better than he did in Llandudno, but still in pain. He said the alcohol had numbed his senses. The Wire rocks!

Having once had to play a show while recovering from hernia surgery, I know firsthand how maddening it can be to play a set confined to a chair. Hopefully you recover soon and hopefully the Manics finally come play the US again!

Nicky - your consummate professionalism & humility continue to amaze me & restore my faith in humanity especially - dare i say it - male humanity. Swimming, gentle regular exercise, & minimal chiropractic / osteopathy are - I speak from personal experience! - best ever cures for back problems but pls ignore if professionals have given you better advice.
Blessings & keep being such a good example ... xx

Nicky, if you're going to sit down on the tour, why not get yourself a massive chair?! Put feather boas on it! That would be IMMENSE!

Truly amazing gig last night. What a fantastic venue and a wonderful atmosphere. Nicky you're an absolute trooper for playing considering how much pain you're in and you looked fantastic in your suit, ignore the Tom Jones jibes! Thank you, thank you, thank you x

25th time I've seen you live dating back to 94. Last night was up there as one of your finest. I took a friend who had never seen you live before and by William's Last Words she was choking back tears too. An epic night - I'll see you again on Saturday and I can't wait!!!

Hey Nicky
I used to suffer from lower back-pain until I started doing some specific back exercises at the gym but it sounds like yours is much serious. Get better soon!
