My wife and I drove up to Detroit from Nashville for the show. Fifteen bucks was way too cheap for this show, they should have asked for 3 times that price - I would have payed that, and more - Seeing the Manics was a DREAM for myself and my wife! Best night of my life - bar none. Not many people get to ever say they saw and met their musical heroes...now we can say BOTH! Is that rad, or what?!?! |
 | I lost my Father around 2 months ago, making this one of the worst years of my life – however, this autumn night in chilly Detroit has made my year worth living through. Nothing will ever top this experience, except maybe if James, Nicky and Sean play a show in our own backyard at our house. If that ever happens, you are ALL invited!! Thanks to everyone in that room that night. You will forever be in my heart and soul. |
 | A Design For Life never sounded more important to me, even after the many years that have passed by since Everything Must Go was unleashed upon an audience that had no idea how the guys would carry on without Ritchie James Edwards. We saw a band that night that has conquered the very mountains that they have been knocked down before! My wife and I met some very nice people at the show, and by the end of the night, it was like we had known each other our entire lives. In a strange way, maybe we actually have! We have all shared the same longing that The Manics would someday grace US shores again, and we all felt the same excitement when the US tour was announced. For all that enjoyed the show along with my wife and me that night, may God bless you, and thank you for being a part of the happiest night of my life. We will meet up at a gig next time they come to the US, and they WILL be back, Nicky promised me!! |
 | James and Nicky smiled through the entire performance, and they all played as though they were performing for a crowd of 70,000 in the UK on that chilly Detroit night. James militaristic jacket was way too cool for words, as was the feather-boa-covered mic stand of Nicky Wire. Sean played with machine-like precision. Nickys mid-air splits were plentiful, and James dazzled us all as he spun around like a pinwheel while nailing guitar leads at the same time, and that voice,oh, that voice...You Stole The Sun From My Heart pierced through us like a double-edged sword as we all jumped in place with the energy of a young army. You could so easily tell that the Manics themselves were so glad to be there, but believe me, the pleasure was all ours. The love that filled the Majestic Theatre that night was thicker that the very mortar that held the building together. |
