1. YOU BETTER YOU BET 2. PICTURES OF LILY 3. THE REAL ME 4. THE GOODS GONE 5. BARGAIN 6. WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN 7. I'M FREE 8. SUBSTITUTE 9. 5.15 10. LOVE REIGN O'ER ME
The other morning I had "You Better You Bet" going through my head non-stop. I mentioned this to a friend (she is a big Who fan). I told her I didn't know why. She said, "You probably heard it on the radio." But I knew that I hadn't, because I'd not been listening to the radio.
A little while later, I realized that the night before I'd been looking at these lists, Nicky's lists, Nicky's "Top 10 Vocal Performances Roger Daltrey". And that's the only recent reference to this song I can think of -- I haven't heard it for quite a while.
So, not only do I have a different Manic's song going through my head at any given moment (particularly when I first wake up), but now he's influencing the music in my head - just by what he's written here! Amazing!!
I agree - not only is Roger a great vocalist, whilst Pete - for me - still is the best songwriter and one of the best guitarplayer; and "The Who" in its entirety the most underestimated and "forgotten" bands. Who are those f*** "Rolling Stones ... ? ;-)
Good list but I'd have Baba O'Riley in somewhere and I'd have moved Won't Get Fooled Again up to the top three. Nonetheless I salute Nicky for his good taste xD
The Who played that at Roskilde last year and Roger's vocals blew me away.
By the way... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE play Roskilde 2009, I actually died when I realised you were playing Glastonbury and not in Denmark last time haha
Or "I know I've been wearing crazy clothes/ And I look pretty crappy sometimes". Great track though. I love the "I lay on the bed with you.." middle 8.
