INTERNATIONAL TREASURES

Following a hugely successful end to 2011 with the release of the top ten singles collection ‘National Treasures’ and a celebratory sold out show at the O2 Arena in London in December, MANIC STREET PREACHERS will head out in April and May for their first European tour in ten years.

The tour will see the band perform a SELECTION of songs from their 38 track singles compilation ‘National Treasures’. The London show received rave reviews (see below) and these gigs will be a must see for all die-hard Manic fans.

Tonight at the Classic Rock magazine awards the Manics received the noble prize of 'Classic Rock Songwriters Award'. Nicky and Sean received the Award with a great acceptance speech.

HMV store new album signings

The Manics will make a 200 mile round trip to celebrate the release of ‘National Treasures’ at three HMV stores in one day. They release their new album ‘National Treasures – The Complete Singles’ on 31st October 2011 and will travel from Cardiff to Birmingham and then Manchester to sign copies at the HMV stores in each town. The album is a celebration of the art of the ‘single’ so what better way to rejoice in this by going to record shops where most of us bought our first 7”’s and CD’s.

Starting at HMV’s Queen Street store in Cardiff, Nicky Wire, James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore will be at the store from 9.30 am to meet fans, then travel to Birmingham for the next signing session at 1pm. They finish in Manchester at 6pm at the Market Street store.

The band have been fans of the group and their version echoes the original whilst bringing a new dynamic production and their own distinctive sound to the song.

Q, Manic Street Preachers and Columbia Records are proud to announce a very special edition of Q’s 25th Anniversary issue featuring an exclusive vinyl edition featuring twelve tracks taken from the forthcoming Manic Street Preachers album ‘National Treasures-The Complete Singles’ released 31st October.

The album, ‘National Treasures – The Selected Singles’ features exclusive new cover artwork and a previously unreleased track, the John Cale cover ‘The Endless Plain Of Fortune’ that is exclusive to this album. This limited edition run of Q will be a Manic Street Preachers cover - not available anywhere else.

The vinyl/magazine package is a strictly limited edition and will only be available from www.qthemusic.com from 27th September and in selected WHS High Street Stores for £12.99 from the 13th October.

The album features a track listing chosen especially for the vinyl by Nicky Wire from the band and Q Editor In Chief Paul Rees.

Of the unique collaboration, Paul Rees Commented “I can think of no better way to mark Q's 25th anniversary than by producing this special issue in tandem with the Manics. 'National Treasures - The Complete Singles' will be released on 31st October 2011. One of the formats will be a treasure of its own in the form of a boxset. The Boxset will consist of: 38 re-mastered vinyl finish CD singles (including B-sides from CD1's), a poster, a DVD of all 38 videos plus bonus video content, 7" vinyl of New Art Riot, Suicide Alley, Jackie Collins Existential Question, a lipstick and vanity mirror and a limited number will also contain a 7" of Motown Junk.

To celebrate the release of 'National Treasures', the band will play a unique, once in a lifetime Christmas party at the O2 in London on 17th December. The band promise “Glitter, glamour, special guests and a ticker-tape celebration. A never to be repeated one-off visual experience encompassing 21 years of MSP with 38 songs – from 1990’s ‘Motown Junk’ to (but not in order!) 2011’s ‘The Is The Day’. There will be an interval in order to top up on refreshments and like all the best parties, you’ll talk about it for years to come and your friends will wish they’d been there.”

MANIC STREET PREACHERS will release a brand new track to coincide with the release of their complete singles collection album. The single 'This is the day' is available from 18th September and is a cover of the 1983 The The track taken from the synth-noir classic album ‘Soul Mining’. The band have been fans of the group and their version echoes the original whilst bringing a new dynamic production and their own distinctive sound to the song. ‘NATIONAL TREASURES’ features the band’s 37 previous single releases from the last 21 years and 10 studio albums. It’s also the first time since 1992’s ‘Suicide Is Painless (Theme from M*A*S*H) the Manics have released a cover version as a single despite recording and playing live many versions of their favourite tracks over the years.

To celebrate the 21st anniversary of their first single release, MANIC STREET PREACHERS are releasing the ultimate singles collection in October. ‘NATIONAL TREASURES – THE COMPLETE SINGLES’ gathers 38 songs from the band’s rich history, starting with initial Heavenly Records release ‘Motown Junk’ (1990) to tracks taken from last year’s ‘Postcards From A Young Man’ album – the bands tenth which was greeted with universal critical acclaim. The album also features a brand new single and will be released in several formats, details to follow.
