PATRICK JONES' NEW PLAY "REVELATION" TACKLES SOCIAL TABOO: THE PLIGHT OF A MALE DOMESTIC ABUSE VICTIM In his new play, "Revelation" , Patrick Jones tackles the taboo subject of men as victims of domestic abuse. His brother is Manic Street Preachers' Nicky Wire. Patrick spent months researching the play and "Revelation" is based on over 40 interviews with men who have experienced domestic violence - it tells their stories in confronting this hidden taboo. The play tells the story of Dionne and Steve and charts Steve's journey from being an enthusiastic lover and father in to a shell of a man - psychologically tormented, tortured and physically abused by Dionne. The play follows Steve to the edge of existence. The soundtrack is by James Dean Bradfield. It will feature all original music created by James for the play. Patrick is a poet, playwright, human rights activist and filmmaker. His work includes the poetry collections The Guerilla tapestry and Fuse, the CD of spoken word and music Commemoration and Amnesia and the plays Everything Must Go, Unprotected Sex, The War is Dead Long Live The War and Sing to Me. He has also directed short films and videos for the bands for The Manic Street Preachers and Lethargy. Nathan Sussex (Steve), is an established TV, radio and film actor. His credits include Asboland (Carl), Coronation Street (Doctor James), Torchwood (Sergeant Watkins) and BBC Radio 4 play Darkness (Steve). Stacey Daly (Dionne), is an established theatre, film and television actress. Her credits include Brezhnev's Children (Galina), The Magic Necklace (Christina) and Four Stories High (Kym). The production has been supported by the Dyn Project Cardiff, The Mankind Initiative, Gwent Theatre, Chapter Arts Centre and the Arts Council of Wales. Last night the Manic Street Preachers won the Godlike Geniuses Award at the 2008 NME Awards. They then played the headline set at the NME's biggest ever gig at the O2 Arena in front of a sell out crowd. Their set opened with a stage full of bagpipe players and drummers, before they were later joined by first Tom Clarke of The Enemy, and then Cerys Matthews. NME Godlike Geniuses!

The NME have named The Manic Street Preachers to be the recipients of the 2008 God Like Geniuses Award, to honour their outstanding, unique and innovative career in music. The band follow the likes of The Clash, New Order, and last year's winners, Primal Scream, in receiving the award.

The band will be presented with the award at the NME Awards ceremony on February 28th, at the Indig02. Immediately after the awards finish the band will then headline a special gig at the 02 Arena, which will also feature Bloc Party, Klaxons and The Cribs.

The rumours are true! After much planning, Xfm South Wales will go live tomorrow at 11am on 106.8 to 107.3FM and to ensure that it launches with a bang the Manic Street Preachers have been asked to launch the station by being the first voices on air with 3 live tracks from Xfm's new studios. Although the Manics are keeping their chosen tracks under wraps, rumour is rife that 'Design for Life' is likely to be their first song and apparently Nicky Wire has prepared an opening speech as he is a big champion of the station and the effect that it will have on new music in the South Wales area. Do not miss it. Tune in at 11am tomorrow on 106.8 to 107.3 or listen online at www.xfmsouthwales.co.uk to hear the Manics ahead of their UK tour.

Manic Street Preachers received two nominations with Best Track 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' and Best Album for 'Send Away The Tigers'.

The band also performed at the launch last night playing all the classics and new tracks from the latest album.

MANICS NME SIGNING TENT AT V!

The NME signing tent will once again be THE place to be at this year’s V Festival giving music fans the chance to meet the hottest acts in person! Guaranteed to be the most rock 'n' roll place to hang out the NME signing tent will have bands signing autographs throughout the weekend at both the Staffordshire and Chelmsford sites.

This year the line up boasts our very own Manic Street Preachers. Also label mates Kasabian and Editors will appear alongside hot new acts such as the Guillemots and producer extraordinaire Mark Ronson

Other bands scheduled to set to star in the signing tent over the weekend include Boy Kill Boy, Juliette and The Licks, The Cribs and Scottish favourites The Proclaimers!

The nominations for this year's Q Awards will be revealed at a show at the Indigo2 venue, inside the O2 Arena. The night will see performances from Manic Street Preachers, Athlete, Kate Nash and Cherry Ghost, as well as the unveiling of nominees for the main awards ceremony.

The event takes place on 12th September, with tickets costing £10 - they are on sale now here. The Q Awards take place on 8th October.

December Tour Support

Manic Street Preachers are thrilled to announce that Cherry Ghost have been confirmed as special guests on the Christmas UK tour. The band personally chose Cherry Ghost, as their album "Thirst For Romance" is James Dean Bradfield's favourite record of the year so far.

Meanwhile, the Manics have been planning more songs for said tour including "1985", "Australia", "Masses Against The Classes", "She Is Suffering", "Slash 'n' Burn" as well as some acoustic oddities from James. The band are about to record B sides for "Indian Summer", the third single from their gold selling eighth album "Send Away The Tigers".

P.S. Thanks to everyone who put "Autumnsong" as the highest new entry this week in the Top Ten.
